    In this course you will find interesting topics, materials and useful exercises to help you improve your English skills.  Any kind of learning should be fun. This is why there are many activities, exercises, games and videos to keep you engaged. So experiment,  try saying or writing things that you`ve never said or written before and take risks! Learning a language is about making mistakes and learning from them- you will only improve your English skills, if you try and make an effort. However, your progress is up to you, but we`ve included lots of useful materials, websites and a list of links to support you with your endeavour. GOOD LUCK!

    Talk in pairs. Ask the person next to you some of the questions from this list. Take turns and start a conversation about yourself, your likes and dislikes and your hobbies and free time.
    

  • Finding someone who has a lot in common Datei
  • This is a warmup exercise to get your students talking about themselves and to get to know each other better. What are some things that people have in common? Explain what it means " to have sth. in common with someone". Give examples and together with the help of the students make a list in class about things that people may have in common with each other. Afterwards hand out the worksheet "Finding someone who has a lot in common"and give directions on how to proceed. The students can also ask each other questions from the "30 elementary questions".
    

    
    

  • Prepare a short talk about yourself and the things you like
    

    Choose one of the pictures from the desk. Go back to your seat and write a few sentences about this picture. First descibe what you have chosen and then explain why you have chosen that person or item. Present it to the other students in class.
    
  • Bring cutouts from magazines, newspapers, postcards or printouts and put them on a desk. Ask the students to come to the desk and choose one of the pictures they like best.

    Write a text about yourself. Introduce yourself. Who are you? (name, age, hobbies, things you love/hate and what are your dreams for the future and your dream job) Afterwards exchange your text with your partner. Print out the empty family tree and ask students to fill in their family members. They may add more boxes or leave some out.

    They say don`t judge a book by its cover, but this is exactly what you are going to do. 😉 Choose one book from the EASY READER section that you like and guess what it`s about. Some things like the author and the title are easy to find out, but for other things you need to use your imagination.

    Read through "Giving a talk". This unit is all about communicating and talking as much as possible in English. Therefore you will prepare your own talk about a topic that is of great interest to you. You can choose (almost ;-) ) anything. Favortite country, food, sports, films etc. You should research your topic well and present it for 10 minutes in class. Follow the steps of "Giving a talk".  Use the internet to research your topic. Your teacher is here to help you. Prepare as much as possible in school and practise speaking at home in front of a mirror. You will present your talk next time in front of the class.
